Tillandsia stellifera is a saxicolous species native to Peru, growing on rocky slopes. It is a high-altitude plant, inhabiting the high Andean mountain ranges, specifically between 2,700 and 3,000 meters in elevation. The name stellifera comes from Latin and literally means "star-bearing" or "star-shaped." It is a small, stem-like plant with very short leaves that grow along a stem and are densely covered with long trichomes, giving it a snowy appearance. It produces a small, magenta inflorescence. Its flowers are white with a bluish base, forming large clusters over the years.
