Tillandsia recurvata is a species belonging to the subgenus Diaphoranthema (Tillandsias miniature) distributed over a vast territory from the southern United States to Argentina, growing epiphytic and, sometimes, terrestrial in dry forests. Species that can be found growing in large groups on electrical cables, roofs, fences. It is a somewhat variable plant in the shapes of its leaves. Of distic gray leaves covered with trichomes. Bractea erect green with lilac tones, tiny lilac flowers. Recent studies have shown anti-tumor and anti-HIV properties in Tillandsia recurvata.
