This saxicolous plant is distributed from Tequisistlán to Totolapan, in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico, at an altitude of between 900 and 1200 meters. Formerly Tillandsia schiedeana ssp. glabrior. Its polystichous leaves, growing along a stem, are succulent, hard to the touch, and densely covered with fine trichomes that give the plant a white color. Its long, erect inflorescence is red. The tubular flowers are fuchsia-red.
