Tillandsia elongata is a species native to Colombia, growing epiphytically at altitudes from 300 to 1050 meters. It has numerous deep green leaves covered in small, fine trichomes that form a funnel-shaped rosette where it stores water. The base of the leaves is large and oval, ending in a very fine point. Its long inflorescence, which can reach over 1 meter in length, branches into numerous reddish bracts. Its flowers are violet.
