Tillandsia bandensis is a species native to Bolivia, Paraguay, Uruguay and Argentina, growing from epiphytic manwera from 300 to 2000 meters of altitude. It is a species within the subgenus Diaphoranthema (miniature tillandsias). Its leaves are distichous, growing in a plane, of an ashy color. It is a plant that forms spherical groups. Long, thin bracts that carry 2-4 blue/violet flowers, quite large compared to the plant and that contrast with its leaves. Very scented flowers.
