Tillandsia capitata 'Yellow Star' is a cultivar of a smaller form of Tillandsia capitata 'Yellow' that stands out for its compact and very spherical rosette, composed of leaves densely covered with fine trichomes, giving it a characteristic silver color. When it blooms, its leaves take on purple tones and the center of the plant takes on a very striking yellow color. Its flowers are tubular, lilac in color.
