Tillandsia retorta is a species native to the center to the south of Argentina, growing in an epiphytic way, from 600 to 1000 meters of altitude. It belongs to the subgenus Diaphoranthema (tillandsias miniature). Similar in appearance to Tillandsia myosura or Tillandsia funebris. Its leaves are hard to the touch and are covered by very fine trichomes with their absence on the stem. Its fine and bracts bear 1 or 2 tiny yellow flowers. Very hardy and easy-care plant, which forms round groups relatively quickly.
