This species is known for its pseudoviviparous growth, in which offsets form directly on the flower spike. It exhibits numerous forms and variations. This particular form is small, with grayish-green leaves covered in scaly trichomes, and produces numerous offsets both at the base and on the small, red inflorescence, which bears pink flowers.
