Tillandsia andreana is a species endemic to Colombia, growing epiphytically at altitudes of 1500 to 1700 meters in cloud forests. It is a small but beautiful species with numerous thread-like, deep green leaves. It produces a single, striking, bright red flower that emerges directly from the tip of the main stem, not exceeding the foliage. This species is very similar to Tillandsia funckiana. It is sensitive to cold and low humidity, and therefore requires protection in cold temperatures or dry environments.
