Tillandsia pruinosa is a species distributed from Florida, Mexico, Cuba to Ecuador and Brazil. It grows epiphytes from sea level to 1200 meters of altitude.
Small pseudobulb species, with particular dark leaves, with purple tones, covered with large scaly trichomes that give the plant an "frosty" appearance. Its small pink floral bract is densely covered by scaly trichomes. Tubular lilac flowers. The plant can take on pink / red colorations in the foliage during flowering.
